Clean up your shoreline and help the environment.
That is the hope of the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup – with the Owen Sound instalment happening Sunday.
Site Coordinator Owen Sound Clean-up and Coordinator for the South Bruce Friends of the Environment – Alissa Angel – says she invites all residents to help the cause.
The event happens from 10 AM until 2 PM Sunday at Kelso beach.
Last year the group in the Scenic City collected almost 900 pounds of garbage from Harrison park and Kelso beach – all of which was separated and recycled.
Angel hopes this year will be as successful and with more volunteers.
Angel says this is an event all ages can participate in as parents are leaving their environmental legacy behind for the kids.
Angel encourages to go on the friends of the environment website to see tips on how to keep the waterways and shoreline clean.
The Vancouver aquarium is actually where this country wide movement started.
Volunteers to the Owens Sound event will be given gloves and other necessities to keep them safe in their work – Angel suggests wearing rubber boots to the event.
