The 4th annual Hanover Relay For Life event was a smashing success.
Organizer Patti Golem say they raised 77 thousand dollars when all was said and done at 7 AM Saturday.
That brings the total raised in Hanover over the last four years to 577 thousand dollars.
Golem says while the amount is overwhelming it’s not surprising since the people in the Hanover area are so generous.
Golem says much of the money raised will stay local, assisting families with travel and out of pocket expenses associated with their cancer treatment.
This was the last Relay for Life event in Grey and Bruce Counties.
Over 400 people walked the track all night long ranging in age from toddlers to seniors.
With live entertainment and lots of activities – spirits were high all night long.
The event ran from 7 PM Friday till 7 AM today at the Hanover Racetrack.
The race track was aglow with candles lit in the memory of loved ones who lost their lives to cancer.
