It’s considered a time to reflect upon the sacrifices of others and recognize the contribution our veterans have made to the community.
Walkerton Legion Secretary Tim Mancell encourages everyone to take time out of their busy schedule to pay tribute to our veterans in some small way.
He says it’s not enough to just take a moment or two out on November 11th , he says this respect should be paid regularly.
Mancell adds Legion Week is also a good time to reflect upon the service of our soldiers in Afghanistan.
He says the Middle East conflict has really made this sacrifice come to life for many.
Along with service to country, Mancell adds veterans through their local legions have made incredible contributions to society as a whole
He says legions are the lifeblood of many communities raising money for hospitals, local projects and sports and the care for veterans and their dependants.
