The event has been deemed a success — but the fundraising numbers are down.
This past Friday Owen Sound hosted their annual Relay for Life at Victoria Park.
Karen Neerhoff is the coordinator and says Friday’s 12 hour event was a great success.
Neerhoff says the total amount raised this year was 54-thousand dollars – down quite a bit from last years 81-thousand raised.
The luminaries were popular with over 580 being sold.
Neerhoff says team participation was UP from last year with 27 teams hitting the track for the walk.
She says the volunteer base was strong – and spirits were high although the weather was cold.
Hanover’s Relay is set for this Friday at the Hanover Raceway.
