Just days after the federal government survived it’s first confidence vote of the fall session, the local Tory MP taking a wait and see approach to the future of the government.
MP Ben Lobb says Liberal Leader Micheal Ignatieff has made his intention clear but that the conservatives want to continue implementing their economic stimulus plan.
Lobb says Canadians do not want another election and feels to hold one would only stall government for two to three months.
Lobb says among the pieces of legislation that he would like to see passed is the changes to the Employment Insurance Act.
The proposed changes would increase benefits to long tenured workers giving them more time to find work.
He says it’s something that would help workers laid off by the Volvo in Goderich.
