The Walkerton Hartley House has been sold.
Brockton has sold the historic building for 175 thousand dollars to James Wakeford.
The sale closing date is September 30th.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato is very excited to see new life breathed back into the Hartley.
He says the new owners plan to undertake some renovations and get the restaurant and bowling alley back open as soon as possible.
Brockton took over the Hartley House about year and a half ago during a tax sale.
The 1871 hotel has long served the community as a restaurant and meeting place.
Its banquet hall has also been the site of many a company Christmas party, wedding reception and community meeting place.
Over the years the Hartley House has played host to many notable entertainers, sports celebrities and prominent politicians — including John Diefenbaker, Lester B. Pearson and Pierre Trudeau.
