Your construction-slowed trek across Collingwood’s First Street isn’t going to get easier any time soon.
Mayor Chris Carrier says the project to widen First Street is actually ahead of schedule, but he says it’s still going to be next year before the project is complete.
The project is to widen the road, add traffic lights and widen the sidewalks.
Carrier says the middle, turning lane will look different from the other lanes; it will be paved in a different colour than the through lanes.
Carrier says the project is currently two weeks ahead of schedule, and the town is hoping to take delivery of the new light standards this week, so the contractor won’t have to wait to install them.
Currently, work is taking place in the westbound lanes, which are being reduced to one lane during the workday.
