It’s an opportunity for local families to bring their pets out for a day of fun.
The 3rd annual Beautiful Joe Autumn Adventure takes place tomorrow.
Its a day full of activities centred around animals and house pets — specifically dogs.
Committee member Linda Sugars says the day’s events include an exotic animal handler who’ll be showing off several creatures including a 10 foot long python.
They’ll also be featuring dog obedience demonstrations, a vet who’ll talk about alternative veterinary services and various vendors.
Sugars says the crowds also love the Pet Idol contest and the blessing of the pets.
She says the donations raised at the event go towards enhancing Beautiful Joe Park in Meaford.
The event runs from 10 AM to 4 PM today at Beautiful Joe Park in Meaford.
Sugars says they’ve also recently received Trillium Foundation money to create some sort of stage production about Beautiful Joe.
In case you’re not familiar with the story — Beautiful Joe is the subject of a book written in the late 1800’s about a Meaford dog abused by its owner.
It became the first Canadian book to sell one million copies.
