Its a night to help local conservation and have a little fun.
The Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation is gearing up for its 17th annual ‘Evening for Conservation’ dinner and auction.
Executive Director Chris Ferris says they’ve got a long list of items up for auction again this year from noteworthy artists to local restaurants and businesses.
Ferris says the annual fundraiser helps them carry out several programs including the Wild Water Safety program that aims to warn 15 hundred local students about fast flowing water in the spring.
The Conservation Foundation also sponsors scholarships for students following an environmental career path.
And Ferris says they’re also starting a new Youth Advisory Committee to do more tree planting, trail building and garbage pick up with assistance from the three Owen Sound high schools.
Last year’s event raised more than 16 thousand dollars.
The Evening For Conservation goes tonight at the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
