Kincardine’s plan to withdraw from membership in the Paisley Fire Board will be discussed at an upcoming meeting.
Back in May, Bayshore Broadcasting News reported that Kincardine had decided to cease membership on the fire department board.
Instead, Kincardine would pay the Paisley Fire Department on a fee-for-service basis to serve the area in the former Bruce Township.
Councillor Mike Leggett — Kincardine’s representative on the fire board — says some residents concerned about how their fire protection service will change.
Leggett says their coverage will not change at all.
The municipality is just opting to purchase the fire service from Paisley instead of being part of the board.
He says withdrawing from the board will allow the Paisley Fire Department to be controlled mostly by one municipality — Arran-Elderslie.
Leggett says the fire chiefs have to sit down and come up with the final agreement.
Saugeen Shores has already left the Paisley Fire Board, but Brockton still has a small stake in it.
