The long-awaited plan to connect the two sections of 10th Street East can finally begin.
Work is expected to begin right away on joining the two sections — between Lamson Crescent and 16th Avenue East.
The tender for the construction was awarded by City Council Monday night to E-C King Contracting.
Its bid of over 766 thousand dollars was the lowest of four received by the city.
Combined with a consulting fee paid to Gamsby and Mannerow — and the total cost of the work will be over 880 thousand dollars.
That’s only to build the road bed, which won’t be paved until next year.
Sidewalks and a bike path will also be built at that time.
All the work is being paid for by a capital contribution in the amount of 1.075 million dollars made by the Bluewater District School Board.
The school board agreed to finance the road construction in a deal struck when it purchased the property that is now the site of OSCVI.
