Harrison Park is about to swing into some serious action thanks to a grant of 44 thousand, four hundred dollars.
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch announced the grant on Friday.
The money is coming from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and has been earmarked for a new playground at the park.
It will sport a duo swings set, sway-sets, as well as protective surfacing for the swings.
MPP Murdoch says the project builds on the Province’s commitment to support our children in achieving the highest levels of fitness while still having fun.
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound and City of Owen Sound were on hand for the funding announcement.
The design of the new playground has no physical barriers and will benefit all users, as well as it will include accessible picnic and game tables.
The project was kicked off this past June between the Kiwanis Club and the Harrison Park Playground for All group. The City of Owen Sound is preparing the site and completing the hard landscaping.
The funding announcement by Bill Murdoch is just the latest in a string of infrastructure announcements for Owen Sound.
Recently, the city got word of a 259 thousand dollar grant to revitalize the downtown and harbourfront.
Earlier announcements from Queens Park and Ottawa include 22 million for the new multi-use recreation centre at Victoria Park.
