Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell is switching Parliamentary Assistant hats.
The Liberal MPP previously served as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, but she’s now heading over to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to do the same job.
Mitchell will be working with Health Minister David Caplan, whom she also served as Parliamentary Assistant when he was Infrastructure Minister.
Mitchell says Caplan asked her to sit on the Panel for Rural and Northern Health Care, which held its first meeting a month and a half ago.
She sees her new role as a continuation of that work.
Mitchell says she likes challenges, and with over 40 billion dollars going to the health budget each year, it affects everyone in Ontario.
The two-term MPP says she’s pleased to provide a rural voice at the table to talk about health care.
Along with her new role as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Mitchell will continue to serve as Chair of the Liberal Caucus at Queen’s Park.
