A new doctor is coming to Brockton — but South Bruce Council still has some questions about how much of the cost it should cover.
South Bruce is a member of the Brockton and Area Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee.
Council has agreed to pay the 21.5 per cent share of the cost for the new doctor.
But Deputy Mayor Carl Zettel says the issue of the reserve budget for doctor recruitment still needs to be looked at.
He says the municipal treasurer and the treasurer of the recruitment committee will meet to discuss that issue further.
Zettel says not everyone on council was pleased with South Bruce’s share of the cost.
But he admits it’s difficult to figure out exactly how many South Bruce residents see doctors in Brockton, while others travel to Hanover or Wingham instead.
He says even based on the figures showing how many patients are rostered in Brockton — there’s no other easy way to figure out South Bruce’s exact share.
Zettel thinks covering 21.5 per cent of the costs is a fair way of dealing with it.
