The town of Ayton is pulling together to support some of their own.
The Herbst Family lost everything in a massive fire at their home south of Ayton back in April.
Tonight the Ayton Masters Ball team and the community is hosting a fundraising dance for Mike – Sharon and their two children.
Kathy Liesemer is one of the lead organizers of the event and says they are not only hoping for monetary funds but are looking for any pictures people may have of the family.
Liesemer says the family lost all personal items in the blaze – all family memorabilia.
She says Mike Herbst awoke back in April – opened the basement door and the home engulfed in flames.
The cause of the blaze has been pegged at a mouse chewing at wires.
Mike was born and raised in Ayton and plays on the Masters team.
The family is currently living in a mobile trailer on the house site as it is rebuilt.
Liesemer says the donations for door prizes at the event from community business’ have been overwhelming.
The dance is tonight at the Ayton Arena from 8 PM until 1 AM.
Tickets are 5 dollars and it is an age and majority event.
