The Victorian Order of Nurses Grey Bruce is looking for some very special volunteers.
Spokesperson Mary Winkler says they need to beef up their volunteer roster for their Hospice Visiting Program.
She says the volunteers support those with life threatening and debilitating illnesses and their families by providing regular home visits to lend a hand or an ear.
Winkler says they’re especially short on volunteers in the Dundalk, Flesherton, Markdale and Durham areas.
Volunteers receive 30 hours of specialized training and orientation after a careful screening process.
Winkler says the ideal candidate is someone who’s caring and compassionate, some have health care backgrounds but its not a requirement and some have had personal experiences that make them qualified.
