What a better way for the kids to spend the first weekend after school – than at a fall fair.
There are plenty around – including the Mildmay Carrick Fall Fair that starts on Friday at 8 PM at the rec complex in the town.
The president of the Mildmay Carrick Agricultural Society Dan Bross says the first event is the fair ambassador competition with nine contestants on Friday.
Then Saturday starts the main events with the dairy and beef shows at 10 AM, a parade at Noon and a demolition derby at 2 PM.
Bross says there are also field crop competitions that have been going on throughout the summer that will also be exhibited inside the complex.
Sunday continues the events with an ATV pull at 9 AM.
The very popular Horseshoe tournament happens at Noon with over 100 participants.
Bross says the most anticipated event is the first ever classic professional wrestling matches from one until four.
There will be about 6 to 8 matches with all professional men and women wrestlers.
Sunday also features the chicken barbeque from 4 PM until 7 PM with an auction afterwards.
Baking and jarred goods – as well as hay and other items are up on the auction block.
Bross says attendance is only 3 dollars for the fair.
