September doesn’t only mean school – it means signing up the kids for extra curricular activities.
The Kincardine Scouts are holding a registration night for those who want to sign up tonight at the hall at 7 PM.
Meanwhile, anyone who signs up – will be able to enjoy time at Wildfang Park, as the Kincardine Scouts are no longer concerned about losing the deed to it.
Commissioner Nancy Jackson says they had until the end of August to pay back a 13 thousand 5 hundred dollar debt to Scouts Canada or lose the park.
The debt was towards a seventeen thousand dollar bill for repairs at the Kincardine Scouting Hall.
Jackson tells Bayshore Broadcasting News, they more than made the funds needed in various ways to the tune of 35 thousand dollars.
She says with the extra cash they will be able to make further repairs to the aging building.
The money was raised through bottle drives and various events, and through service club grants including the Power Workers Union and Engineering Society through Bruce Power.
Jackson is overwhelmed by the support and says a thank you campfire was held in August at Wildfang Park.
It’s located along the Penetangore River; the Kincardine troops use it for various things like campfire meetings, canoe training and camp sleepovers.
