How sweet it isn’t.
Dandee Candy in downtown Port Elgin is closing its doors in mid-September.
Owner Dan McKay says they have some new grandchildren in Kelowna, British Columbia to spoil, so they’re headed out west to be closer to family.
McKay says they’ve sold the building which he believes will become office space.
He says it hasn’t been an easy run but he believes they were making headway with a lot of return customers, who took them up on their specialty–sweets from Great Britain.
McKay still believes a candy store such as his can make a go of it in this community, but the family comes first and they’re looking forward to their re-location.
McKay says he’s going to miss the customers that have built up a relationship with the business.
He says it was a tough decision to close down but family was calling.
