One of two firefighters admitted to hospital with smoke inhalation following a blaze in Meaford has been released.
The other volunteer firefighter remains in hospital but Deputy chief Dan Shaw says he’ll be okay.
Flames hit Reeds restaurant at 27 Nelson street about 6 AM Wednesday and did extensive damage at the back of the building.
An apartment upstairs also suffered some damage in the fire.
Meaford and Blue Mountains firefighters responded to the call, along with Grey County OPP.
Deputy Fire chief Shaw says the cause of the blaze is now under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshalls office and the OPP.
The Fire Marshall’s office has four investigators in Meaford — looking at the blaze.
Shaw wouldn’t speculate on whether the fire looked like arson or not.
Grey County OPP were going door to door in the neighbourhood looking for more witnesses.
Nelson Street was partially closed to traffic until about 4 PM.
