Today marks the start of another school year — and Police want to make sure it’s a safe start to the year.
Parents are reminded to review safety tips with children.
Walk on sidewalks where available and always cross at intersections.
Kids should stop and look in all directions before walking — not running — across the street.
Motorists are asked to keep a watchful eye for children who are walking to cycling to school and be prepared to stop at all times.
You should also reduce your speed in school zones.
It is against the law to pass a stopped school bus with its stop arm out and red lights flashing — it could cost drivers a 500 dollar fine and 6 demerit points.
