Some students in Formosa will be heading to school by bus next week — instead of on foot.
Bayshore Broadcasting News reported earlier in August that South Bruce was looking into doing safety improvements at the corner of Concession 12 and Bruce Road 12 in Formosa.
That is where many children cross the road each day to get to Immaculate Conception School.
Bruce Road 12 is on a steep hill at the intersection, and it’s difficult for southbound cars to slow down and stop.
The municipality of South Bruce had asked the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board if it could take all Formosa students living west of County Road 12 to school by bus.
Operations Manager Sharon Chambers says the board has agreed to bus the students, even though they live within one kilometre of the school.
Chambers says South Bruce continues to explore ways of improving safety at the intersection.
Possible solutions include a school crossing guard or signalized crosswalk.
