The last weekend of the Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular is proving to be a busy one for police, as they deal with fights and even death threats.
Owen Sound Police say very early this morning, just after midnight, officers responded to a disturbance outside the derby’s main entrance.
They say two intoxicated men had become combative with others in the area, with a group of almost 200 watching.
The two men – a 26 year old from Port Elgin and a 52 year old from Owen Sound – were arrested.
Police say the 52 year old continued yelling profanities and remained combative and resisted attempts to arrest him.
Finally, they got him into the back of a police cruiser – where he continued yelling and swearing, kicking a rear door of the cruiser resulting in damage to the door.
He also made threats to two police officers that he would kill them.
Both men were brought to the police station.
The 26 year old male was later released after being issued a ticket for being intoxicated in public.
The 52 year old man was later released and must now attend court in early October to answer to charges of Uttering threats, Mischief under 5-thousand dollars, Resisting a peace officer, and Causing a disturbance.
