What a way to send off summer – a visit to the Mount Forest fall fair.
Fair Secretary Deb Harper says its a small town fair showcasing rural life.
The fair celebrates 150 years with this edition – opening Friday and running until Labour Day Monday.
Featuring the all time favourites like home crafts – baking – canning and exhibits – the fair welcomes back a favourite that was missing last year – the midway returns.
Harper says to celebrate the 150th anniversary there will be a concert by Scott Wood on Saturday at the New Sports Complex in the town.
Other festivities include the Queen of the Fair Junior Ambassador competition on Friday night – also at the sports complex.
Sunday is kids day with plenty to do – including a magic show, baby show and pet show.
Monday closes the fair with a horse pull.
Harper is hoping for around 6-thousand to attend.
Harper says people can see the traditional field crops, large pumpkin growing competitions and flower displays.
There will be a quilt show and demonstration as well.
The fair is happening at the OLD fair grounds on King Street East.
Adult admission is 5 dollars – kids accompanied by an adult get in for free – teenagers admission is a toonie.
