The first roundabout in Grey County is now open.
A special ceremony was held Thursday at the base of Blue Mountain resort to recognize the completion of the 1.5 million dollar traffic circle.
The roundabout is located at the intersection of Grey Road 19, Grey Road 1-19 and Mountain Drive.
Grey County Transportation Director Gary Shaw says they are confident the roundabout will help reduce traffic congestion and make the area safer.
During a 24 hour period — Grey Road 19 typically sees about 17-thousand vehicles.
600 thousand dollars of the project was funded through the federal Gas Tax fund.
The rest of the cost was covered by funds from the Town of the Blue Mountains and Blue Mountain Resorts.
Officials had hoped to have the roundabout open last week but the tornado tied up Hydro One crews from completing their work.
