The multi million dollar reconstruction of the Grey-Bruce Line between Scone and Alvanley is almost finished.
But it wont be done in time for Labour Day weekend, as had been hoped.
After the current work is finished, all that will remain to do is the redesign and reconstruction of the roads intersections at Scone and Alvanley.
Chatsworth Mayor Howard Greig, the Chair of Grey Countys Transportation and Public Safety committee, says the design work for the Scone intersection is already underway.
At Alvanley, where the county line intersects with Highway 21, the Ministry of Transportation has committed to a redesign and an environmental assessment.
The design options will include a roundabout, Greig says.
Representatives of both Grey and Bruce met with Transportation Minister Jim Bradley at the recent Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa.
Bradley committed the MTO to the Alvanley redesign at that time.
The counties will both contribute 50 thousand dollars to the work but rejected a suggestion by Bradley that they also commit to help to pay for the reconstruction there.
Greig says that wont happen unless the work directly involves the portion of the road dedicated to north-south traffic, on the county line itself.
