The state of emergency in West Grey is over.
Mayor Kevin Eccles terminated the emergency Monday after a meeting with the Emergency Control Group.
The Mayor says they have made tremendous progress in cleaning up the damage from a tornado that hit Durham on August 20th.
Eccles credits the work of staff and emergency workers as well as community groups, businesses and volunteers.
But Eccles notes the recovery will continue for sometime.
He says many residents may have traumatic or critical incident stress signs and symptoms that can last from a few days to a couple weeks.
The municipality continues to ask residents who were affected by damage from the tornado to fill out a property damage report form.
Eccles says it will help officials determine the extent of damage.
So far — 55 buildings in the Durham area have been determined to have extensive tornado damage.
Donations are still being accepted for the West Grey Tornado Relief Fund at the CIBC.
Officials would also like residents to submit any photos or video of the tornado and the destruction for the municipal archives.
