The Keady Market is a place tourists and residents attend in large numbers every week — but now they are being asked to leave their dogs at home.
Outdoor market manager Katherine Kuhl says new sign posted at the market states no pets allowed.
The ruling comes on the heels of another local market recently having an incident where a child was bit in the face by a dog.
Kuhl says the market made the ruling after realizing there were so many dogs underfoot at the market.
Kuhl says the public has reacted positively than not to the new rule as most of the public seems to understand the hot market is no place for a pet.
Kuhl also knows that this is a learning curve – as many patrons are tourists – and this may be their first time attending.
IF someone does attend the market right now with their dog – they are not asked to leave.
Rather –Kuhl adds – they are given a handout stating and explaining the new rule.
