A home in Lucknow has been completely gutted by fire.
Lucknow Fire Chief Peter Steer tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the department was called to a home at 472 Willoughby Street Sunday around 10:30 PM.
Steer says while the home is still standing, about 75 per cent of the inside has been completely destroyed.
He estimates damage to be between 150-thousand and 200-thousand dollars.
Steer says nobody was home at the time of the fire and nobody was injured.
He believes a plug in air freshener in the kitchen is to blame for the blaze.
Steer says when the fluid in the air freshener runs low it can overheat and be a fire hazard.
He says the Ontario Fire Marshall has told them of this relatively new hazard and fires have been seen in the province, while this is the first in Lucknow.
He recommends home owners check their air fresheners regularly.
