Arran Elderslie is going to stick with weekly garbage pick-up for the municipality for at least the next two years.
And they’re going to do it with a new service provider.
Arran Elderslie councillor and public works chair Mark Davis says the garbage contract has been awarded to Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling.
BASWRA has been doing the blue box collection all along in the municipality but as of next month, they will add garbage pickup to their duties.
Davis says when all the tenders came in, only a couple of contractors bid on the bi-weekly concept and he says the savings were minimal at best.
He says the BASWRA bid was 81 thousand dollars a year while the highest came in at 259 thousand a year.
BASWRA also collects garbage in Kincardine and Huron Kinloss and does blue box collection throughout Bruce County, including Saugeen Shores.
