A 15 year old boy is dead after being swept away by a large wave at Dyer’s Bay in Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Bruce Peninsula OPP say the Kitchener boy was in waist deep water at the government dock when the large wave knocked him off his feet around 6 o’clock last night.
He was unable to gain his footing and was carried into deeper water.
Some of his friends were on the dock but could not reach him as heavy waves took him further from shore.
Fire and police were called but search efforts were hampered by the rough water.
OPP resumed searching at daylight today and the body was recovered at 9:25 AM.
The boy has been identified as 15 year old Rory Macdonald of Kitchener.
The family was staying at a cottage in the area for the week.
