The Hanover and District Hospital is telling its staff to take a hike – literally.
The hospitals Fit Trail is complete.
Well if the exercise doesn’t take your breath away the view certainly will.
The one and a half kilometre trail winds and twists its way around a picturesque stretch of land that overlooks rolling hills and fields.
Hospital CEO Katrina Wilson says the trail is set up with 10 different fitness stations.
Each station comes with a different activity with its own guide on how to use each station.
She says the trail is for everyone, you can run, walk, bike or even wheel chair your way through.
Hospital Green Team Leader John Broad says this project was three years in the making.
Over that course of time raised 20 thousand dollars in donations was raised to create the trail and plant over a thousand trees.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors like Bruce Power as well as service clubs, volunteers and the public, the 20 thousand dollar trail didn’t cost the hospital a dime.
Even so, Broad says more donations will be needed in the future for the upkeep of the trail and the planting of more trees.
The Fit Trail is located behind the hospital, over a thousand trees have been planted along the trail.
Everyone is welcome to use it.
