It’s almost time to make some hard decisions on the future of aquatics in Saugeen Shores and area.
A public meeting will be held on Phase 3 of the pool study tonight.
Community Services Director Mike Myatt says we’re down the fine strokes as they discuss costing and concept of a new pool in Saugeen Shores.
Myatt says it’s imperative that everyone be part of the answer through this, the third public meeting on the matter.
Myatt says there’s no cost on the pool yet but it could approach 10-million-dollars depending on the route they go.
That’s why it’s important the public at large take part in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the manager of culture and recreation Jayne Jagelewski says the time has come for a decision on the future of the swimming facilities in Saugeen Shores.
Jagelewski says the Centennial Pool at Saugeen District Secondary School is hanging on by a “shoestring.”
She says her office is constantly answering calls about the mechanical issues at the pool.
Todd Brown from Monteith Brown Planning Consultants says he will make a formal presentation to the meeting and will be open to questions as well.
Brown says he will explain the trends happening in aquatics and the types of pools communities are putting in.
He says they’ll look at the market area and the region as well.
Brown says they’ll also explain how the ways people would use the pool.
Thursday’s pool meeting will take place at the Rotary Hall at the Port Elgin Plex beginning at 7 PM.
