A Great Lakes Cruise Ship is making a stop in Goderich, and those aboard will be touring parts of Saugeen Shores and Bruce County.
The Clelia II is a private yacht-like cruise ship and arrives at the Goderich Harbour around 8 AM Tuesday.
Mark Kraemer of Saugeen Shores, is the land excursion organizer for the stop over.
He says this ship typically departs Toronto, winds through the Great Lakes and ends in Thunder Bay and operates for twelve weeks in the summer.
Tomorrow, it will be arriving from the Niagara area/Welland Canal.
Kraemer says he will be bussing the passengers to Saugeen Shores and will hope to impress enough so that the area is chosen as a future stop over.
Kraemer’s job entails entertaining and giving a tour of the area to the some sixty passengers aboard the ship.
Some of the places the vacationers will visit include the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, the Keady Market, and downtown Southampton for an optional stop at the Art Gallery.
Kraemer will also be touting the area as one the cruise line will want to have as a regular port of call.
The ship will be docked at the Goderich harbour until about 5 tomorrow night – and residents are encouraged to go and see it but can’t tour it.
The Clelia II can hold up to 100 passengers and is crewed by a staff of 60.
