Its only August but planning is well underway for this years Festival of Northern Lights in Owen Sound.
The Festival runs November 20th to January 3rd.
Festival Chair Doug McKee says the need for volunteers to help fix and move displays and do electrical work is big.
McKee says a few hours a week is all it takes to be a volunteer – and you don’t need prior experience.
The group is not just looking for labourers – but for organizers to help plan the events – as this year the festival abuts with the Olympic torch relay running through the city.
McKee says the festival is gearing up for a big year as they are holding events for all six weeks – adding the festival is a big boost for the local economy.
Volunteers been working on the festival since January.
