The Meaford Public Library is closed until further notice.
The library sustained a considerable amount of water damage from Thursday’s storm.
Clean up has been ongoing over the weekend.
Councillor Jim McPherson says the damage of the library has been extensive affecting mostly the two upper floors.
He says one-quarter of the ceiling is infiltrated by water and needs to be replaced.
It is not known how much the repairs will cost but McPherson says the majority of the restoration work will be covered by insurance.
He says there is a deductible the Municipality will have to pay but is pleased that their insurance company is stepping up to the plate.
McPherson says people can drop off their library books at a drop off site on Sykes Street South (4 Sykes Street South, Unit 1).
