Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch is amazed more people did not die, or there were not more serious injuries in the tornado strike in Grey County.
The Conservative spent Friday following the path of the tornado from Durham thru to the Markdale area.
Murdoch says with the devastation in the industrial park in Durham — it is hard to believe all those workers survived.
Several businesses were destroyed or heavily damaged, while a young boy died in the Conservation Area on the edge of Durham.
Environment Canada confirmed Friday that indeed an F-2 tornado did touch down in Durham as well as the community of Vaughan, north of Toronto.
The local MPP says there are numerous farms between Durham and Markdale that are heavily damaged.
Murdoch says you can follow the trail of destruction from sideroad to sideroad and says it will be a long time before everything is back to normal.
Murdoch says he got a phone call from Premier Dalton McGuinty while he was surveying the damage Friday morning.
The Premier offered the support of the province in the recovery effort in West Grey and Grey Highlands.
