That private yacht-like cruise ship that was to anchor just off Port Elgin has cancelled its visit.
The Clelia II was scheduled to be in Port Elgin this Tuesday — but the town has since been notified that no stop will be made here.
Saugeen Shores Manager of Culture and Recreation Jayne Jagelewski says because of the size of the yacht, it would have had to anchor out in Lake Huron and shuttle guests into the Port Elgin Harbour.
The Captain of Clelia has cancelled his stop in Port Elgin because the weather is indicating high wind swells which would impede his guests transfer from vessel to land and safety is the prime concern.
The Clelia II will port in Goderich and will bus guests to Port Elgin to still participate in their scheduled itinerary which includes a visit to the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.
The Clelia II can hold up to 100 passengers and is crewed by a staff of 60.
