Families in the Durham area and across Ontario are beginning to pick up the pieces after Thursday’s brutal weather.
Bayshore Broadcasting news reporter Maggie Clegg tells us the province and other agencies are stepping up to help out.
The United Way of Bruce Grey is reminding people affected by the tornadoes and severe thunderstorms to use the 211 service for information.
Director Francesca Dobbyn says the call centre can provide you with updates on shelters, emergency food locations, and other services available.
Information on government assistance and emergency income supports can also be provided.
Meanwhile – the province is offering assistance to municipalities through Emergency Management Ontario.
Premier Dalton McGuinty says emergency officials are providing support to municipalities as the damage is assessed and the clean up begins.
McGuinty is also sending his thoughts and prayers to those affected.
He is expressing deep sadness to the victims of this tragedy, especially the family of an 11 year old West Grey boy killed in Durham.
McGuinty is also thanking Ontario’s first responders and residents who cam together to help others.
