A local animal shelter is dealing with both good and bad news.
Georgian Bay Animal Rescue has announced today that Hill Science Diet is a new sponsor under its shelter partnership program.
Shelter Spokesperson Pat Longmire says she is thrilled to have the company provide food for the 400 or so animals in their care.
She says they go through atleast two thousand pounds of food every month.
But the bad news is the shelter is facing is an eviction notice for one of its temporary shelters that housing homeless cats.
Longmire says the shelter in Craigleith received a recent complaint of noise and smells and because of a zoning infraction, the animals have to be out by August 31st.
But she tells us the group has been advised to fill out a zoning by-law ammendment.
Longmire is hoping it will be accepted so the animals can stay in the home until the new permanent shelter in Collingwood is finished.
She says the shelter is getting there, but they need more money to finish the inside rooms and the outside dog run to make them ready for the animals.
