It looks as though South Bruce Peninsula Council and its Mayor have managed to reach some level of peace.
Council censured the Mayor over comments she made regarding human resources practices.
Back on July 29, council voted to censure Mayor Gwen Gilbert for comments she made regarding a human resources matter.
Council was considering the hiring of a new staff member and the mayor said it could appear as corrupt to do it in the absence of Chief Administrative Officer Malcolm McIntosh.
The Mayor threatened legal action over council’s decision, and at this week’s meeting — the censure was rescinded.
Gilbert insists though deviating from proper policies and procedures is not acceptable.
She says her concern was that normal human resources policies were being overlooked at the time.
Gilbert has assured council her remarks about corruption were not personal.
Two Council members voted against the motion, but Gilbert hopes that doesn’t affect how council’s ability to get things done for the rest of the term.
She says that as Mayor, it’s important to focus attention on moving the municipality ahead and will be asking councillors to focus on other matters.
