A big celebration for the Friends of the Point Clark Lighthouse.
The group is celebrating 150 years of marine heritage this weekend.
Co-Chair Jan Kelly says everything kicks off Friday night at the lighthouse with entertainment and fireworks; opening ceremonies start tomorrow at 1 PM.
Following the official remarks by dignitaries, there are many events for the whole family to take part in like a car show, displays and historical conversations with local historians.
There are also kids activities throughout the day, a corn roast and piping at dusk by Kyle MacDonald followed by more entertainment at night.
Kelly says the event wraps up Sunday with a church service followed by lunch, entertainment and lighthouse photo and painting contest judging.
Lighthouse tours will be conducted all weekend.
The event is made possible through a grant the group manged to get to the tune of more than twenty thousand dollars from the Department of Canadian Heritage.
Events are free, with nominal fees for things like food.
The light stands 93 feet above high waters – and the lighthouse is one of six on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay known as the Imperial Towers.
