There could be some new development coming to Hanover’s west end.
Craft Development Corporation of Etobicoke has expressed interest in building an 11 thousand square foot building on site of the current abandoned old Queens Hotel.
Hanover obtained ownership of the rundown building this Spring during a tax sale auction after the building had 97 thousand dollars in outstanding property taxes.
The Craft Development deal is contingent upon the purchase of a house behind the old hotel and two commercial stores located on the east of the building.
Hanover also wants to ensure any new development will not hinder any future plans by Grey County to widen the 7th Avenue and 10th Street intersection to allow for a right hand turning lane.
Chief Building Official Don Tedford is very pleased with the possibility of finding a developer for the property.
He says with all the recent building activity in Hanovers east end it will be great to have something take place in Hanovers west end.
Hanover is going to declare the Queens Hotel as surplus property. This will get the ball rolling in regards to future development.
The old rundown building located on the corner of 7th Avenue and 10th Street has been long considered a town eyesore.
Craft Development specializes in providing zoning and site plan approvals for retailers and various companies.
