It’s a sight for sore eyes — the old Hanover Coliseum is now completely down.
45 years of history now lies in ruins as heaps of rubble and mounds of debris cover the coliseum grounds.
Recreation Facilities Manager Dale Steinhoff says the demolition project is on schedule and budget and should wrap up by the fourth week of August.
It’s now just a matter of clearing out all of the debris.
In the meantime — construction on the new 8.8 million dollar Regional Recreation Complex project has begun.
Excavation is underway, footings are being poured and Steinhoff says it won’t be long before a structure begins to form.
In fact — Steinhoff expects cement block walls to begin to rise on the east end of the property by the end of this week.
The Regional Recreation Complex construction project should be complete by next summer.
It will feature an NHL sized hockey rink, and indoor walking track and an auditorium.
