An expert on Canadian Politics has some advice for Green Party Leader Elizabeth May.
Look east and not to Bruce Grey Owen Sound if you want to get elected to Parliament.
Sid Noel, professor niversity of Western Ontario Political Science professor Sid Noel. tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that May’s chances of being elected if she chooses to run in the Bruce Grey Owen Sound riding are virtually zero.
He says she would not draw any Conservative voters to her camp, but instead would draw from the Liberal and NDP camps and thus fracture support for those parties.
Noel says she probably would run a strong campaign, as she did in a by election several years ago in London, but if the voters wanted to turf the Tories, they would probably vote Liberal as that is the only other party that could form a government.
He says if Elizabeth May is realistic about getting elected to Parliament, she should consider running in the Cumberland Colchester riding in Nova Scotia.
That is next door to Central Nova where she finished second to Peter Mckay in 2008.
Noel says may would be running in her home territory and there fore would lose the parachute candidate tag.
He also says should also look west to BC where there is a strong level of support for the Green Party.
