A 10 million dollar development in Ripley is a step closer to reality.
Huron-Kinloss Council has approved three by-laws that pave the way for the Ripley Square project to go ahead.
Mayor Mitch Twolan says council is prepared to go forward with the project and says the site plan concerns stated at a recent public meeting have been addressed.
He hopes the process continues quickly because the development is a major one for the community.
Twolan says around 139 market view and garden style apartments are planned for the square — part of developer David Brown’s plans for significant new housing and commercial space in Ripley.
The mayor says the plan still has to pass through hoops at the county planning level.
Twolan says the Ripley Square project will incorporate the existing buildings in the business section and lead to a brighter appearance of the downtown area.
