Green Party leader Elizabeth May will decide within the next month whether shell try to win a seat in the riding of Bruce Grey Owen Sound.
May spent the past two days in the riding — capping her visit with a speech on Thursday night in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Kelso Beach amphitheatre in Owen Sound.
Her speech focused on the importance of reclaiming democracy and of embracing politics as a means to that end.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound is one of three ridings May is considering as she seeks a place where she feels she has a good chance of winning a seat in Parliament.
Previous candidates Shane Jolley and Dick Hibma have brought a great deal of Green attention to the riding with their strong second place showings at the provincial and federal levels.
Hibma says he would support May if she decides to run here, and he declined to comment on the possibility that he may again strive to carry his party’s banner.
Colleen Purdon — a longtime local activist who has run both federally and provincially for the NDP — welcomed Mays interest in the riding.
She praised Mays words as a plea to all politicians of all parties to work together to properly represent Canadians and their interests.
