The Municipality of South Bruce is looking at options on how to make it safer for students to walk to Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Formosa.
Operations Manager Sharon Chambers says crossing Bruce Road 12 at the intersection with Concession 12 is dangerous for children due to the steep hill.
Chambers says there have been a number of suggestions, including having a school crossing guard and a signalized pedestrian crossing.
She says the possibility of having a crossing guard will be considered and discussions have taken place with Bruce County Engineer Brian Knox about what improvements could be made.
The Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board has been asked to consider busing all students who live within the village of Formosa to school as a temporary safety measure.
Chambers says there is a concern that installing a signalized crossing would create too much of a detour for students walking to school and would end up not being used.
She says other options have to be considered too.
