It’s a two year sentence for the 21 year old man from Barrie who admits to setting the massive fire that destroyed the pedestrian mall in Wasaga Beach.
That’s two years plus the time spent in custody already for Andrew Paulino.
The fire caused about 5 million dollars in damages.
The judge has ordered Paulino to pay 7-thousand dollars in restitution and remain on probation for three years once he gets out of jail, with a nightly curfew.
Paulino admitted he and a friend poured gasoline in one of the buildings at the Wasaga Beach mall, set a match to it, then went across the street to watch the fire in the middle of the night of November 30th, 2007.
Paulino was also connected to a number of other fires in the area.
The Toronto Sun says Wasaga beachfront property owner Dov Levy made a victim impact statement at yesterday’s hearing.
He says he was thought of with suspicion after the fire and he feared retaliation.
