Grey Bruce Health Services is worried about a shortage of antivenin used to treat poisonous snake bites.
President and CEO Maureen Solecki says two people were treated this month at Wiarton’s hospital after being bitten by eastern massasauga rattlesnakes.
She says that’s as many as staff usually treat in their hospitals throughout the snake-bite season.
Solecki says the antivenin supply has been used up.
She adds it will be at least the middle of next month before a new supply can be obtained from the British manufacturer.
